In positive psychology a flow state, also known as being in the zone, is the mental state of operation in which a person performing an activity is fully immersed in a feeling of energized focus, full involvement, and enjoyment in the process of the activity. In essence, flow is characterized by the complete absorption in what one does, and a resulting loss in one's sense of space and time.

The Flow Genome Project is an interdisciplinary, global organization committed to research-based training of ultimate human performance, or flow state. Created by Jamie Wheal and Steven Kotler, the authors of ‘Stealing Fire’, the Flow Genome Project aims at giving the public tools, training and resources to activate their highest potential.
